Longer Working Time, Easier Cleanup Even in Extreme Conditions
As part of a complete system for creating showroom-grade finishes, our 3M™ Perfect-It™ EX AC Rubbing Compound is the ideal compound for the critical pre-polishing stage in collision repair. This fast-cutting, fine-finishing compound removes fine grade (P1200 or finer) sand scratches and small surface defects on automotive painted surfaces. The compound works especially well on newer, harder-to-buff clear coat systems. It is formulated for longer work times, even in extreme conditions – especially important in places where heat and humidity are common inside or outside of the shop. The rubbing compound won’t become sticky during use or leave a powder or film residue that can cause rework. Yet it holds on the compounding pad, reducing the mess, waste and cleanup time associated with sling.
This rubbing compound is available in a range of quantities including convenient, job-sized packets for maximized product use and inventory control. Quite simply, our 3M™ Perfect-It™ EX AC Rubbing Compound is the highest-performing rubbing compound 3M has introduced for better efficiency and lower process times, both during use and through creating defect-free surfaces prior to polishing.
An Excellent Finish, Fast
At the heart of this specially formulated polish is aluminum oxide, the same mineral used in many of our top-performing abrasive discs and sheets. In fact, fine grade aluminum oxide abrasive discs are part of the Scratch Refinement stage of our Perfect-It™ Paint Finishing System, which includes our 3M™ Perfect-It™ EX AC Rubbing Compound. This rubbing compound cuts quickly and uniformly to remove fine sand scratches and surface defects.

3M™ Perfect-It™ EX AC Rubbing Compound is integral to our 3M™ Perfect-it™ Paint Finishing System. Developed to keep pace with evolving paint and clear coat technologies, the Perfect-it™ Paint Finishing System is ideal when the finest finish is required for every level of clear coat and paint repair. This system uses a progressive series of abrasives, buffing and compounding pads, and specially formulated compounds and polishes across four stages of repair to produce showroom grade finishes with deep color and rich gloss. 3M™ Perfect-It™ EX Rubbing Compound is crucial for the Perfect-it™ Paint Finishing System, after scratch refinement and prior to polishing.
To reduce compounding time, we recommend refining scratches with 3M™ Trizact 3000 and 3M™ Trizact 5000 grit abrasive discs. Compound between 1200 and 2000 RPM using a 3M™ Perfect-It™ Foam Compounding Pad, PN 05706.
