In places like automotive repair shops, no surface is immune to imperfections ? scratches, dents and dirt nibs are all part of a day?s work. Luckily, these slight mishaps can be combated with scuffing and highlighting. We designed the 3M Screen Cloth Disc Hand Pad to make these applications easier for operators.
3M Screen Cloth Disc Hand Pad Goes Hand in Hand with 3M Screen Cloth Discs
3M Screen Cloth Disc Hand Pad goes hand in hand with 3M Screen Cloth Discs. Use die numbers 500GC (5? diameter with 2 tabs), 600JR (6? diameter with 2 tabs) and 800JM (8? diameter with 2 tabs) (sold separately). Mineral is adhered to both sides of 3M screen cloth discs, so when one side of the disc wears down the other may be used. While operators typically use these discs dry during hand sanding, the screen is water resistant and may be used with a lubricant if necessary.
Each disc features two tabs. The holder pad has two ?tacks? designed for these tabs. Operators simply pierce the tabs on the disc with the tacks on the hand pad to secure the disc in place. This easy and convenient attachment system eliminates the need for adhesive, which has two key benefits. First, it helps minimize the mess that adhesive can sometimes cause. Second, as one side of the disc is not sacrificed for adhesive, both sides may be used and the disc is put to optimal use.
A Remedy for Small Surface Imperfections
When eliminating surface imperfections, evenly-applied pressure and consistent finishes tend to be top concerns. With these goals in mind, we created the 3M Screen Cloth Disc Hand Pad. This abrasive accessory helps operators apply even pressure to their 3M screen cloth discs and, consequently, the substrate. With a hand strap attached to the back of the pad, the accessory is easy to use and provides access to workpiece areas that may be hard to reach with machines.
This hand pad is available in soft and medium densities. A medium density pad is firmer ? a good match for highlighting or leveling the surface to reveal high and low spots. A soft density pad is a good match for light scuffing of the substrate.
Prior to applying primer or paint, ridding the substrate of small imperfections is no easy task. We know that operators value a clean, polished look. The 3M Screen Cloth Disc Hand Pad was engineered to help them get there.
