Temporary Surface Protection from Industrial Liquids
Expanding the capabilities of our well-known 3M™ Dirt Trap products, 3M™ Self-Stick Liquid Protection Fabric is developed specifically for temporary surface protection from fluids, dirt and a wide range of other contaminants in industrial applications. This thin, lightweight adhesive-backed surface protection material features a tough polymer layer that prevents grease, grime, solvents and other liquids from seeping through and damaging the surfaces beneath. Unlike paper or plastic sheeting, its non-woven surface – engineered by 3M specifically to trap dirt, dust, debris and overspray – prevents small particles from spreading through the facility where they can settle on work surfaces and cause damage and rework.

This material also resists light impact and abrasion, making it suitable for areas where metal shavings and dropped nuts, bolts, small hardware and other falling debris are common. It protects flat surfaces where workers may temporarily place objects such as hand tools.

The Powerful Advantages of Adhesive-Backed Surface Protection
3M™ Self-Stick Liquid Protection Fabric features an adhesive backing that makes it very easy to apply in one step. The low-tack adhesive keeps the material secure, smooth and wrinkle free on a broad range of substrates. It is repositionable – if you need to access an area behind the fabric after application, you can simply peel it up and stick it back down. After use, and with a typical application time of 1-4 weeks, the material removes cleanly without leaving residue.

This makes 3M™ Self-Stick Liquid Protection Fabric an excellent replacement for traditional time-consuming paper-and-tape or plastic-and-tape masking processes. Because the material stays firmly in place, it protects surfaces from micro-scratches which can occur when masking material moves around over time. Its nonwoven surface material has been shown to provide extra traction when applied to smooth surfaces. The material also can help reduce pooling by trapping liquid just below the surface, without allowing it to soak through to the floor. Also, its low-tack adhesive backing makes it much less likely to slide on bare floors vs. masking paper or plastic sheeting.

Versatility in a Roll
Conformable, reliable 3M™ Self-Stick Liquid Protection Fabric can be quickly applied to floors, mats, tabletops, carpets, paint scales, part stands, hoses, machine rollers and more. It saves cleanup time – simply peel it up and replace it. The material significantly reduces sweeping, which can spread contaminants, as well as time spent scrubbing.  It is also UV resistant, so you can use it to protect surfaces outdoors for up to two weeks.

Industrial Surface Protection Made Easy
3M™ Self-Stick Liquid Protection Fabric is available in a variety of widths from 4” to 56” so you can choose the size for your surface protection needs. Technicians can apply it by hand or using either of our applicators designed for 28” and 56” rolls. Applicators feature foam rollers that smooth the material as it unrolls. When the material is ready for replacement, simply peel it off and apply a new layer.
