More Than a Little Tough
Our 3M Paper Sheet 140N features a more rugged paper backing and sharp garnet mineral. The D-weight backing is one of the heavier backings among paper-backed sheets. Its tough enough to remove surface defects left by machine sanding before finishing.
These standard 9 x 11-inch sheets are easily resized for a multitude of tasks or folded to reach critical surfaces, corners and recesses.
Garnet Is Good for Wood
Finely finished wood products depend upon meticulous sanding to prepare wood for stains and other coatings. Garnet is a sharp grain that cuts quickly when new. While it dulls quickly, this is an advantage when working with wood as the mineral provides finer finishes.
When an Open Coat is Highly Desirable
Abrasives cut better and last longer when dust isn?t clogging the cutting surface of the abrasives. Open coat construction means the abrasive grains are less densely spaced on the backing, allowing sawdust to be evacuated keeping cutting mineral free. This allows the sheet to continue cutting even when sanding soft woods and materials that would, otherwise, clog the grain and hinder sanding ability.
Recommended Applications
Choose this sheet for use, with or without a hand block, for overall touchup or cleanup, removing surface defects left by machine sanding, glue spots, pencil marks, dirt, or rough texture left by previous operations.
