We designed our 3M Hookit Clean Sanding Painter?s Back-up Pad for auto body sanding jobs requiring a finer finish, such as application of color, primer and clear coat. The 6-inch diameter soft-density foam body has a 15-degree taper for flexibility when sanding along contours or close to edges. The disc pad features 5/16-24 external threads which are compatible with orbital or random orbital sanders that have 5/16-24 internal threads.

About Our Clean Sanding System

For use with 6-inch 3M Hookit Clean Sanding or dust free discs, the painter?s back-up pad features the 3M Clean Sanding dust management system ? a multiple-hole design that facilitates dust extraction, prolonging disc life and improving air quality in the shop. The Clean Sanding dust-management system evacuates dust from the work surface, dramatically increasing disc life and maximizing cut-rate. Optimized with a self-generated vacuum sanding tool fitted with a Clean Sanding filter bag (sold separately), Clean Sanding products allow the vacuum to suction dust from the air and off of the workpiece. This reduces loading of the disc and adds life to the abrasive. Additionally, reducing dust in the air improves working conditions. You can also pair Clean Sanding abrasives with Clean Sanding disc pads for use on a central-vacuum-ready sander.

About Our Hookit Attachment System

The Hookit hook-and-loop feature makes disc attachment, removal, and re-attachment clean and easy, and facilitates use and re-use of the disc for the extent of the abrasive life. Hookit disc pads have J-shaped hooks of the type most commonly used in everyday hook-and-loop applications. Hookit disc pads grip the brushed nylon loop backings of 3M Hookit discs. The Hookit system is designed for work spaces where adhesive backed discs may become contaminated by dust, dirt, or flying debris.
