Silicon carbide is a very sharp synthetic mineral commonly used in low-pressure applications like paint prep. While the mineral breaks down faster than aluminum oxide, it produces a finer finish. This makes the Standard Abrasives Cleaning Disc best suited for sanding and finishing applications on fiberglass, composites or soft metals.
